In questa pagina del nostro elementare trattatello troviamo un messaggio di un gigante del pensiero moderno, Karl Popper, messaggio raccolto dal suo breve saggio “Cattiva maestra televisione“.
Egli, con grande coraggio e lunigimiranza, enuclea a suo dire “il punto centrale nel processo educativo“, ovvero quell’opera, in verità ciclopica, di tentare di ridurre la violenza nella umana società.
A questa opera è fuori di ogni dubbio che debba essere orientato l’impegno di tutti gli educatori di ogni tempo e di ogni paese; a maggior ragione in questi tempi nei quali siamo chiamati a svolgere la nostra azione pedagogica, tempi in verità intrisi di grandi sconvolgimenti sociali, politici ed economici e che rimettono in discussione quindi comportamenti e costumi, anche sotto la nefasta influenza dei mezzi di comunicazione di massa.
Solo un’opera educativa orientata alla riduzione della violenza nei rapporti umani potrà rendere a tutti la speranza di un futuro più dignitoso.
“( … ) Ciò che devono imparare è che l’educazione è necessaria in ogni società civilizzata, che i cittadini di una società civilizzata, le persone cioè che si comportano civilmente, non sono il risultato del caso, ma sono il risultato di un processo educativo.
E in che cosa consiste fondamentalmente un modo civilizzato di comportarsi? Consiste nel ridurre la violenza.
E’questa la funzione principale della civilizzazione ed è questo lo scopo dei nostri tentativi di migliorare il livello di civiltà delle nostre società.
( … ) il punto centrale nel processo educativo non consiste soltanto nell’insegnare fatti, ma nell’insegnare quanto sia importante l’eliminazione della violenza.“
